Handmade Books - Coptic Binding

11 May – 18 May 2007
two consecutive Saturdays.
9:30 am to 4:00 pm

Coptic Binding originated in ancient Egypt and is still one of the most popular bindings among book binders today. It produces a sturdy book with decorated board covers. The exposed spine and threads make the stitching an essential element in the design of the book. You will create two books of different sizes during this workshop, using two different methods of decorating the covers. All materials will be supplied by the tutor for $15. A list of requirements will be supplied in advance of the class.
